A useful air conditioning quote should explain what system suits your property and what the installation includes. For Brisbane and Gold Coast homes, the decision should account for summer heat, humidity, room layout and how you use the space.
Start with the property, not a headline discount
Tell your installer which rooms need cooling, when they are occupied and whether the existing system has performance problems. A site assessment should consider room dimensions, ceiling height, glazing, sun exposure and insulation before a capacity is recommended.
Check the exact equipment
- Ask for the indoor and outdoor model numbers and proposed heating and cooling capacity.
- Confirm whether the proposal is a split system, multi-split or ducted system.
- Check which controller, zoning equipment and accessories are included.
- For a replacement, ask whether existing pipework, wiring and mounting arrangements are suitable for reuse.
Understand the installation scope
The written scope should cover unit locations, pipework, drainage, access requirements, electrical work and commissioning. Ask whether removal and disposal of the old equipment, any wall repairs and additional work are included or quoted separately. Clear inclusions make quotes easier to compare.
Compare running costs sensibly
A lower purchase price does not tell the whole story. Compare equipment of similar capacity, consider the energy information for your climate and choose controls you will use. Actual running costs depend on the property, weather, settings, usage and electricity tariff.
Check warranty and aftercare details
Ask for the manufacturer’s warranty conditions, the installer’s workmanship terms and the maintenance requirements in writing. Product and installation cover are separate. Keep your invoice, model details and commissioning information for future service.
Do not assume a rebate applies
Government incentives and manufacturer promotions have separate eligibility rules and expiry dates. A New South Wales offer should not be assumed to apply to a Queensland property. If an incentive is included in a quote, ask for the current scheme details, eligible models and any conditions before proceeding.
