How to Make an Office Air Conditioning Opening and Closing Checklist

A short staff checklist can make everyday commercial air conditioning use more consistent. It should cover ordinary controls and reporting, not technical checks on electrical, refrigerant or ceiling equipment.

Need help before you start? Ask MyTradie for a quick overview of your system.

Before you start

Nominate an authorised staff contact and gather the normal controller instructions. Identify which equipment serves the premises and which areas staff are permitted to access.

Step-by-step tutorial

  1. List the normal occupied areas. Record the rooms used each day and the approved operating routine. Keep building-management responsibilities clear.
  2. Check ordinary controls at opening. Review the day, time, mode and schedule shown on the normal user interface. Do not enter installer or service settings.
  3. Keep accessible areas clear. Report storage obstructing outlets or return-air areas. Move only loose items that can be handled safely.
  4. Use a symptom log. Record the area, time, display and any change in comfort, sound, smell or drainage. Send safety concerns to the appropriate contact promptly.
  5. Review closing arrangements. Confirm the approved stop time or schedule and who is responsible for after-hours use. Check holiday routines separately.

Check the result

A new staff member should be able to follow the checklist without guessing how to service the equipment. Review it after a fit-out change, controller update or change in trading hours.

Stop and get professional help if needed

Staff should not use ladders to inspect ceiling units, open electrical panels, alter ducts or attempt internal cleaning. Water leaks, burning smells, repeated trips and other abnormal signs require the appropriate professional response.

A common question

Does a daily checklist replace professional maintenance?

No. Daikin’s maintenance guidance identifies commercial equipment as work requiring professional expertise. Daily user checks support a service plan by improving information and access; they do not replace the plan.
