A ground-level walk-around is an observation task: look at the surroundings, keep loose clutter away and record concerns. It is not an outdoor-coil cleaning or electrical inspection procedure.

Before you start
Choose a dry, safe time and follow the manual’s shutdown instructions where required. Do not approach equipment affected by water damage, exposed wiring or other hazards.
Step-by-step tutorial
- Check safe access. Stay on the ground and outside equipment guards. If the unit is elevated or difficult to reach, stop at a safe-distance photo.
- Review loose clutter. Keep stored items and loose leaves from crowding the surrounding area, without reaching into or under the unit.
- Look at vegetation. Note plants that are encroaching on the manufacturer’s clearance area. Arrange safe garden work without leaning tools against the equipment.
- Record visible changes. Photograph damage, deterioration or changed supports without touching them. Note the date and any change in sound or comfort.
- Keep the route available. Leave a practical service-access path and explain any new fence, screen or building work at the next service discussion.

Check the result
Compare your photos with the installation record if available. Daikin’s seasonal advice includes keeping outdoor equipment free of leaves and debris; use the exact model’s requirements rather than inventing a universal clearance.
Stop and get professional help if needed
Do not hose internal parts, use a pressure washer, remove a guard, straighten fins or tighten unidentified fittings. Stop if there is damage, unstable equipment, unsafe access or water near electrical components.
A common question
Can I cover the unit to protect it?
Do not add a cover, enclosure or screen without checking the model’s operation and clearance requirements with the installer. A tidy-looking cover is not proof of a suitable arrangement.
